I have read a lot of negative stuff about RR where is a good source to get parts ? I ordered the roller chain adjusters from RR for 195.00 did I get burned? I am new to the 6x6 stuff any help would be appreciated I am sure I will be replacing most of the drive train soon on my max.

I made my own with about $20 into the parts. There are several threads on them if you do a search.
Richards adjusters are quality parts, just very pricey.....if you don't mind paying convenience store prices, then you did not get burned.
There's a lot of negative stuff out there about Richard's Relics and it's true. I can tell you many stories about transmissions that he "rebuilt" that failed on people and I went in and fixed the damage for them, wrong parts or damaged parts that were sent to customers and they were told that it was their fault and returns weren't accepted for it, axles that he made are of extremely poor quality and snapped and broke with less than ten hours of normal trail riding, customer service is very bad, and the charges to get the items to people are very high. That's just the tip of the iceberg, but I won't go in to much more detail. There are some people that don't mind paying the very high prices, but to each their own. Next time if you want to save A LOT of money, post an ad on the "wanted" section of the site and you'll probably be able to find what you need from another forum member.Originally Posted by rebel3006

If that was the case, tons of people would be getting out of the hobby, and that's exactly what happened before 6X6World was launched. Lots of opinions out there so I might as well throw in mine. I've known Richard since the mid '90s when he took over Route 6x6. I have bought 6x6 parts from him ever since then and never got a bad or poor quality part. I like the parts he manufactures and he is also the only source for many old parts that you can't get anywhere else. I have rebuilt more T20's than almost anyone out there, exceeded only by Richard's Relics and Recreatives, and I have never had to repair his work or had any complaints about a rebuild from him. I find it hard to believe that anyone else's experience has been so drastically different than mine. Sure there will be problems along the way with any business that sells in larger volumes but I've never received less than excellent parts and service from Richard's Relics.

have omly one experience buying items from him which was bearings, flanges, cork material etc for my Avenger. I wad pleased with the items and price. He also shipped the order free to northwest Alaska when most won't even ship here.

I am new to the aatv world and have experienced service with Richard and the guy who was retained from max, on the website with mudd-ox/max. Can’t remember the guy’s name at max (Giles?) or something like that. He was the "gm" for max, the only guy left after evidently all the guys with experience were told to never come back. He even admitted he didn’t know anywhere near as much as the guys who got canned, also admitted that someone else with more experience than him should have also been retained. It took this guy over an hour on the phone (while looking at the schematics on his pc) for him to find the part (one part) that I needed. It was a simple driver side adjustable shifter linkage that attaches to the T-20. Nice guy, but he didn’t know crap about what he was selling. Certainly didn’t leave me with a warm feeling to say the least. As for Richard? He has been polite, quick to identify a part and knew what to recommend to fix my problem, no matter what it was. He did a very good job of making me feel like he actually knew what he was selling, and how to recommend a way to actually make it work. If he does not know these vehicles, he's a darn good faker at making someone think he knew them. Granted i'm new to these aatvs, but I literally grew up in a machine shop setting. I grew up around my father who made a good living rebuilding WW2 airplanes and I practically grew up at the drag strip, racing and building/repairing drag cars since I was a kid. So I know how parts go together and I know how a guy keeps himself in business. Lastly, I know experience isn’t free and getting those skills put to work for someone in need are not cheap (and they never should be if you expect to stay in business). Last time I paid attention (which is every day) the American way is being squeezed for every tax dollar the government can legally take. When they need more ways to take our hard earned cash all they do is make a new law so it’s legal to take it so they can give it to some guy or other another country (in most cases) who isn’t willing to get off their butt to earn it. All of that means the business guy has to pass on the cost to the consumer, or go out of business. Plain and simple. Knowledge earned and used in a business equates to the American dream if its facilitated in the proper manner. I can totally relate to the folks here who mention wanting to keep things cheap. Hell, I want things cheap! However the truth is everything I’ve ever learned well has cost me blood, sweat, tears, and hard earned cash...or both. Most of the time it's came in the reverse order when I’ve gone at it from the cheap point of view and didn’t have the experience to back up my drive to succeed. With all of that said I’ve came to only one conclusion regarding this thread. Until another guy with the experience needed and the skills to do things for virtually free and find the loop holes needed to legally evade the tax man appears on the horizon with his cape billowing in the wind, I’ll call Richard. All of the other parts needed that I can build in my fab shop, I’ll build them there in my off time (when I can actually afford to work for free). To each his own (respectfully to everyone’s personal experience with Richard), just my two cents… I don’t know him personally and I’m sure if I worked for him he would only pay me enough to keep me from leaving, combined with what he felt my experience was worth to his business. Nothing is free in the free market. Even the guys who come over and help you out on the weekends still require bbq and beer if you want to keep them around. Notice that i never said he was cheap or that he was even reasonable on some of his items... Keep in mind this rant was only about a guy making a living. With that said i'm all ears if someone does have another company to call that is cheaper and knows what they are doing. The "gm" above i mentioned, sure didnt...

I've priced a few things from him,and quite frankly told him his prices were insane.There is no way a guy should charge 180.00 for a used 2 into1 exhaust manifold.I found one on E-Bay for 30.00.He may be in line with some parts,but I havent found anything I can afford.
