I dont have a title or registration for my max iv. Can anyone tell me if they are supposed to have one. Its about a 2001 or 2002 model. Also do you need MC numbers to drive it around in a lake?
It's pretty common not to have a title. As for public waterways, you will have to abide by the rules just as if you were in a regular boat and that includes getting it registered. This article talks a little about the process: How to Register your ATV as a Boat
I got pulled over in a DUI checkpoint the other night while coming home from the gas station in my max4. The state troopers didn't know what to say so they checked my license then proceeded to ask many questions about the max, then told me I shouldn't be riding on the roads and to have a nice night... That was my warning.... Norm...
Yeah, State Troopers are not real fond of off-road machines on the roads. My brother was stopped, once, for riding in the ditch. Of course, he was probably jumping driveways and really tearing it up with his 3-wheeler (that'll give you an idea how long ago this happened). They probably wouldn't have given him a second glance if he had been acting responsibly.
I drive my machine to the gas station too, but we have a trail next to the road in the local power line right-of-way. I don't get there as fast as I would on a road surface, but I enjoy the ride more.
I've seen them here in Florida give kids a ticket for riding on the right of way beside the road. I don't have a title or registration on mine. I called about a registration and was told "we have no idea what you're talking about" so I said "thank you mam" and hung up. I think they probably have a registration for us here but she didn't know what an aatv is so I'll just ride happily on till somebody busts me.

Here in mich. Was told need mc #'s to even cross the creek but when pulled out ID and they seen gold badge was told to have nice day. But even with mc#'s you still have to follow boat rules !!!! Floatation device , portable signal device, and with all the saftey to mutch waightfor the mach. So just take chanch and pay the one fine if you get caught
I'm in Ohio. Was pretty easy to do.i got a letter of origin from Argo, had my notorized bill of sale and was issued a title. Once title I had to get both atv & boat registrations. But I can drive it on the side of the road and run it up the river.
