  • Secondary Clutch question

My question is how does the Secondary Clutch work? Should it move in and out or stay stationary, I understand the primary one but cant tell if my secondary is working or not. I think if I understand how it should opperate I would be able to figure out the one I have on my argo. Sorry camera ran out of batters as soon as I took this but here is what I am working with

The secondary (driven) clutch should absolutely move in and out. If it doesn't it will most likely need new plastic buttons, lubrication, and possibly a new spring as well. It looks like your belt is a bit too wide as well. I'm guessing it's a 1 1/4" wide belt. Most of our AATVs require 1 3/16" wide belts. This could also cause some issues.

When your primary starts to close up and push the belt up the secondary opens up letting the belt ride deeper in the clutch,This changes the gear ratio to give you top end speed.Hope this makes sense to you.
