Hi: I recently checked the adjustment on my Max II T-20 and found it required very lttle tweaking. I have adjusted previously and remain convinced that the secret to peak performance lies in the T-20 adjustment. I always use the information posted here as from the T-20 manual. My machine works good but now I notice that the left lever has about 1 inch more travel from full forward to full back position. It may have had this for a while and I may be just noticing it now. I can adjust them to be in line when sprung forward by the adjustment at the base of the lateral but then the left has to be pulled back about an inch further than the right for full reverse or full brake. The measurements while adjusting appeared to be identical when measured from the transmission housing to the back of the adjustment bolt on both sides. I believe they should have close to the same travel on both sides with close to the same start and finish from forward to back. Some of you T-20 experts out there.......what am I missing? As said to my knowledge the transmission is working fine. Is this common?

T-20 Lateral Travel Difference

I find that even with the proper tools its sometimes hard to get both sticks with exactly the same travel. A MAX II should have 5.5 inches of travel at the top of the sticks once you take up the free play. MAX IV and Buffalo have 7 inches. I have to back one side off or tighten it a couple flats on the adjustment bolts to get equal stick travel quite often. If they are to tight the bands dont release enough and drag. Hope this helps

That certainly does help msafi65 and I appreciate the advice. It would not take much adjustment to make up that difference. I'm not sure what the travel is but will measure it and post it. The key to performance of the Max is in the T-20 adjustment of this I am convinced. Thanks for the advice. The measurements are: right side- travel 5 1/2 inches, on the left side- the travel is 6 5/8 inches. I believe I will try tightening the left side adjusters slightly. In hindsight the adjustment measurements were always a bit less on the left side. I think I can get it . :-)Last edited by Eldon; 11-14-2012, 08:56 PM.
