Thanks for all the help guys!!!

Good news, It was the shifter pin on the right side. I pulled the diamond plate, and the shifter pin was completely wore off (kind of mushroomed). I also was able to get both the plungers back out as well, and no leaks.

Next step I did was drain the fuild in the trans....................what a nightmare that is. Thank god I own a cherry picker and was able to lift the front end of this thing way up in the air.

I was told to put 28 oz of ATF type F with 4 oz of limited slip rear end fluid (like what would go in a corvette), is this correct?

Back to the shifter pin? How much are these guys (not like it matters, I need it), and where can I get one. I pulled the other side and it looks perfect. So I just need the one side.

AS far as I know you can get the whole diamond plate shifter from Recreatives and not many other places. You will probably need the serial number off of the transmission plate or the vehicle plate (if you have it). That will help them get you the right part - be sure you know which side you need and insure your "right side" is the same "right side" as the person you are talking to. I think everyone pretty much talks like they are sitting in the seat but it never hurts to be sure you both agree which side is which.

        Bryan,

Yep, just under a quart of ATF type F and 4 ounces of limited slip differential ADDITIVE is what you need. You can get the shifter pin directly from Recreatives. Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511 NEVER deal with Richard Clark/Route6x6. He has burned many, many people that were new to the hobby, he sells inferior quality parts at ridiculously high prices, he charges crazy high shipping and "handling" prices, and he gets parts from Recreatives and jacks up the price to make more money off people.

Glad to hear your issue has been solved......this was the best possible scenario!

The whole diamond shifter is in the $35 range from R.I.
The dowel pin is about $4, but is nothing special. If you have a local bolt supply store, ask for a 1/4" hardened dowel pin. It'll run 25-50 cents, but they ARE very hard to remove.
I have a friend with a machine shop and he has a "dowel pin puller". It's basically a slide hammer that grips the pin. Take a closer look at your other pin, and replace it if it has any flat spot at all. Your other pin (in good shape) can be removed, flipped over, and reinserted.

A winch is always a good idea...even if you never get stuck, it works for changing the oil.sportster drowning 002.jpg

Thanks for the input guys. I will not contact Richard Clark, haha.

I'm going to try and get the call made today to order the part, and hopefully have it in a few days.

I did inspect the other pin very well, and its in good shape. No flat spots or anything like that.

Any idea what this thing is worth, or what it would sell for in good running condition? I paid $800. Once I get it going I will put some pics on here.

It's hard to say what it's worth, but if it's a good running and driving Max IV you'll be able to easily triple your $800 investment.
