  • No fuel on a 16 tecumseh 86-88ish 6x6 argo

Can get it to 'run' with starting fluid but no fuel in the fuel lines.
Where is the pump(guessing it must have due to no gravity feed).
How to I "drop" or access the fuel tank?
Is there a fuel pump on the tank or the carb?

I am going to get more fuel line and fuel filter after I can drop or see how the line connects to the fuel tank. The argo was running and worked on 4 years ago and sat ever since. I am just trying to get it to run as a vacation project. I can take pics or what ever someone needs to help me...
Just want to get it going...
    Thanks and good looking site...

I have a 16 tecumseh in my max, it has a mikuni pump. It is a rectangle, little smaller than a deck of cards. 4 screws to open it up. Maybe the diaphram is cracked or ripped or just clogged. I'm no expert, but it is an idea.

It original, the pump may be attached to the side of the carb. it should have a pulse live going to the bottom of the engine. If it is on the aide of the carb, I would separate it from that position and replace of with a black one like Briggs uses. You can run an iv line from a spare tank to the carb and let gravity run the fuel just to make sure everything else is as it should be before buying the new pump as well.

It does have the playing card pump.
I will take it apart after I try a bulb pump to bring up the gas like a outboard boat motor gas can.
I will then check a IV type of delivery system. If that solves it all then a electric pump...
What is my cheapest but working option?
I hope these are sooooooo much fun all this is worth it...
What can be bad? Motor and 6 wheels.... it has to be good...

Got it running but the "nipple" that connects to the fuel pump is falling off...??? A hose clamp in holding the fuel line to the nipple but the nipple is coming off the fuel pump... Not sure if something broke or not...

Does this look right... What is sopposed to keep that "nipple" in the fuel pump.
Looks like to me I need a backup plan.
12 volt fuel pump and figure out how to put fuel line to carb...
          Any ideas from you pros?

anyone???? Bueler???? Why would that nipple part come out of the fuel pump/carb??
What can I do to make it stay?

It appears to be broken off.

it may be a tolerance or press fit,get the nipple and pump body totally dry and clean with brake cleaner, then apply jb weld on the outside of the nipple then push it back in.I seem to remember this problem on an old boat motor, you might be able to use a gasket sealer but I would stick with the jb weld,it works everytime as long as the parts are clean dry and free of any oil or gas based residue.

How thick should the jb weld be? I would not want to have it so thick that it would "block' any part of the fuel pump, but to not do that it would be very thin "painting" of the JB weld. Would it still hold with a very thin layer?

You could put the nipple in the jb weld around it or apply a thin amount on the nipple then put it in the fuel pump. All your trying to do is keep the nipple from leaking and pulling out of the fuel pump,I cant tell from the picture if it is indeed snapped off or if it fits into the hole. The fuel pump is just a diaphram. You do not want to put jb weld in the fuel pump hole just apply a thin layer on the nipple.

Hold on, before you try and Cobb it together, I had that set up on that engine a while back. The you can unscrew the pump from the carb and replace it with a fitting. I did so but I got the fitting fitting off another carb. Then you can use a standard pulse pump stocked at every small engine shop. It would save you the frustration of trying to put it back together and still not work.
