Amphicat Starter Trouble

Im having starter trouble with my amphicat can anyone tell me if the starter needs to be shimmed? or a plate it sounds like its just clicking and not spinning im going to redo the ground wire and try again.

im not really sure im new to 6x6 but i have 3 lol 2 complete and one im restoring from ground up...ill post a pic of the motor not sure if its stock but it looks like 2 stroke snow Mobil motor...
