  • Kelvin the math of fixed hull speed says 8 mph at best considering hull length and boyancy at the water line and HP. Not to mention 8 tires dragging in the water. but that is twice the speed gained by swimming tires.

    • yer i know math and physics suck when you go from dreaming to reality

            • Thurs night hydraulics class was cool I hooked up about 6 different circuits for pump braking, coasting, reversing, pump unloading, and using a load to charge an accumulator while braking. Then it was math, math ,math for figuring pump flow rates minus the efficiency using cubic inches and cubic milliteres to find gpm or literes per minute. Then went thru high speed low torq, low speed high torq and piston motors gearoters outside gear motors, motor drains and efficiency rates of each design. I really enjoyed it. and got every math problem right that in itself was a miracle.

              • Saturdays work mounting the air compressor (red object) and the air tank next to it. under the rear seat.

no vids for a while my photographer is sick.

                • Hope to get the compressor and all the parts finished this week end and finalize the turning for the first testing of the pump in water. Thurs night Hydraulics class nothing but math figuring theoretical motor torq, Mechanical efficiency, motor speed minus manufactures efficiency rates in %, theoretical torq depending on pressure differential all in english and then in metrics. I got a head ache just thinking about it. They give you a formula then take away one of the #s and you have to rearange the formula to get that #.

                  • There was some aluminum diamond plate left over and I couldnt stop my self I cut a piece to fit and glued it to my gas pedal.

                    • Finished my steering to the pump today and said why not so I drove it down to the river which is flowing pretty good so was afraid to just cross it. So I backed in until the pump was submerged and let her rip. It makes it to full rpm of the motor so I can over drive it thats good news. Even at 3000rpm or so it put out a pretty good stream. I will post the vid when I get a chance.

I'm looking forward to watching your water video test.

                        • I had to repair and reajust the electric choke on the Solex pict 28 carburator now it starts better and idles much better when hot. Im remembering how to work on these its been 25 years. Still working on the steering for the pump I dont like how it works now. I also tightened all the chains and cut one tentioner shorter in the rear right side as I tightened it it came to close to the sprocket. The only thing I need to do now is install the intake screen to the pump then test again Sat. Maby at Beaver lake.

                          • Finished the advanced hydraulics class tonight and got 100% on the final. I learned how to size hyd reservoirs and coolers, all about oils viscosity, compressability, Beta sys of filters how and where to put them, fluid conductors pipe, tube and hose. How to size them according to gpm and feet per second of flow. Of course there was the math again thank God thats over.
