  • 1995 max IV chain tension sprocket.

My max IV has the chains going over the top of the sprockets, versus under. Does this matter? Having to pull the sprockets up to tighten the chains, isn't fun. Should I change them to under? Also if there is any play side to side, should I replace the 4 sprockets?

    Thanks

The tensionors should be on top of the chain, pushing it closer together. It shouldn't take too long to get things swapped around. For the lateral movement, they will usually have a little. Movement here isn't quite as critical as play in your main sprockets or axles but you still want to keep it to a minimum. If it is really wobbling, then you will want to replace the sprocket. If it's just a little movement then you should be fine.

Thanks mike. I switched out two of the sprockets as their bearings were shot. Two were fine. Thanks again for the info.
