Well guys, got my new to me max all torn apart... Apparently I got really lucky, cause none of my bearings need replaced, and all my bushings and axles are good still. Gonna fix the body within the next few weeks, and start reassembly. Anyways, I need some help.. Turns out mine is a 1970 model, and I'm trying to figure out what all was in the dash of it. The little placard is gone off the dash that says what went in each hole, and its all gone. I have three holes, the choke cable hole, the ignition switch hole, and a mystery hole next to that. I think its original because its really well centered and all. I guess mainly my thing I'm asking is if any of you out there have a picture of the dash of an old Max 2? That and is there any reason I can't turn around the carriage bolts that hold in the bearing retainers so the nuts are on the outside? I'm putting completely different tires and stuff on it so clearances won't be an issue.

My old II had a fuel shut off valve in the dash. I always install the carage bolts with nuts out. Look the frame over good for cracks especially around the base of of the jackshaft mount areas and the engine mount areas. The factory installed several gussets in these areas in the 90's. My old Max is 1974 and went hunting again this year and came home with no breakdowns.

I think that fuel shutoff valve is whats mounted on mine back by the little tray thing over the engine.. its just a simple valve that pulls in and out with hoses going into and out of it. The nice thing about mine is I bought it off a buddy, and he bought it off another one of our buddies, so I know almost all of the history on it. As far as we can figure out, I'm the 4th owner of it, but the last one never used it at all, and the one before that only used it for stuff around the farm. Before that a small local oil company owned it, and as far as I can tell it was never abused, its just got damage and cracks that you would expect on a 44 year old 6x6 that's been used..
