I tend to take the drive clutch off and unbolt the engine mounts. If you put the belt on the driven and the drive, the tilt the engine to the left side, you can slip the clutch on the shaft with the belt on. Some machines you can open the driven by hand to get the required slack and then roll the belt on the drive, but I have been unsuccessful in doing so on my IV.
I roll them off the inside then pass over the driven. The tight spot is at the mount bolt for driven clutch. Do it with the engine cold. If you have the 20 hp magnum engine the factory belt is tight and hard to install. I run the command belt it's about 3/8 inch longer. Good luck it's not really that bad
