  • loud exhaust

Lookin for a solution to my loud 6x6. I have a Hustler with a Kohler 440 and the exhaust is so loud i cant even sneak up on a deaf person. Bought the 6x6 for my hunting lease but probably would scare of God and all creation.

    Please Help,
    Blake

    quiet

Hi mitwood, Swap the 440 for a 4-stroke. There isn't much you can do with 2-strokes. I bought a super quiet silencer for my honda pilot cr500 and it still sounds like a chainsaw. Can't use it around my house. I've been selling all my 2-stroke stuff and switching to 4. Good Luck Mike D

      Blake,

      See:

      Model 5S Mufflers

I just put a SuperTrapp 5S and a resonator on an 18hp Vanguard and it's been working well. You can adjust backpressure by inserting or removing spark arrestor plates. It's much quieter, and what noise there is seems directed behind the vehicle.

From the web page on quiet mufflers at Jack's:

"This is a retro-fit muffler that can be used on most gas, diesel and 2 cycle engines."

      Model Selection

      Good luck,

      Peter

          Gearz

I was watching the TV show "Gearz" over the weekend and Stacey was working on a Sure Trek. Anyway he ran his exhaust into a car muffler. On the show it sounded pretty quiet, or least a heck of a lot quieter than mine. You can watch the episode on the web at Official site of Stacey David's Gearz | home. I think you might have to register on the site, but it is worth it.

It is episode 2, in season 1
It aired 4/8/07, I was wondering if anyone here had seen it before?

I've heard about backpressure and blah-blah, from what it shows the 400cc snowmobile engine that was transplated in the Sure-Trek runs good with a car muffler.

Take a look, tell me what you think? I'm in the same boat as you with my k440-2AX

            Hey Mitwood...

You may have to go with an aftermarket muffler with fiberglass-packing to quiet your machine down. It makes a world of difference, but it'll be something that is completely custom. I would look on ebay (maybe search for ATV Muffler) to get a wide idea of what's out there. Usually you can pick one up pretty cheaply, as people just want to rid themselves of them. Again, it'll have to be something really custom and a lot of modifications will probably be necessary. I really doubt there's an exact fit quieter two stroke muffler for your application.

            good luck!

I would give up hunting and head to Ashtabula.
