Hi everyone Im Dre.
I recently bought an older Argo (Magnum I think but Im really not sure). Iv been mining the place for information for a few weeks now, and I figured I would finally join. I have lots of questions and this community seems like BY FAR the best place on the web to get answers. Iv been really impressed reading here how many knowledgable and helpfull posters there.
Heres a bit of background on my project... I bought my machine for next to nothing, but it needs a lot of work. It came with a new 18 HP Vanguard motor that has never been run (the person I bought it from was in the middle of a project to replace the old Kohler 18 and he never made it through it). I have lots of issues and questions, but I wont get into specifics here since this is just an intro post.
Heres my machine...

Hi everyone! Just joined a few weeks ago when I finally got ahold of a 96 Conquest with just 100 hours. I live in the Matanuska Valley an hour north of Anchorage in Alaska. I've had 4 wheelers in the past, but am a family man now and am excited to have a "family ATV". I want to make a top asap so the wife will go out with the kids and i in the winter, and will be in the market for some rubber tracks for playing in the snow soon, if any of you can lead me to plans for a top or where to get rubber tracks. I am also a pilot, and used to fly the ARGO of the Sky - Supercubs in Alaska, but put that on hold while the kids are small and finances tight. Hopefully, this machine will serve our outdoor oriented family well for the next 15 years!

Hi, I'm Kurt... new to this group and glad I came across it.
I build and create various sci-fi props
The reason I'm looking around here is that I have a few projects coming up where I need to create some ATV (in this case- ALTERNATE terrain) vehicles (with specific purposes) with sci-fi themes that would be found and used on other worlds. This specific project is for various ongoing charity events (such as Starlight Foundation) that are going to use the sci-fi world (ie: Star Wars, Star Trek, Lost In Space) to raise monies for under-privileged and homeless children... thus these projects are not for personal gain-- my time, props, and creative abilities (if any exist) are volunteered.
So, I need your help. You guys know ATVs like the back of your hand. I'm hoping there's a few of you on or near NJ or the East Coast that may have various vehicles, amphibious, 6x6, 8x8, treaded, multi-wheeled, hover, 'different' looking..etc.. large or small, in any condition (hopefully running somewhat), that perhaps you no longer want, are not repairable to any kind of condition you desire, or that you simply wish to sell cheap (please be kind.. remember, I'm a working stiff like all of you and this is for a charity!) so I can get busy doing my part to help.
I'll be asking advice, how-tos, about parts, whats available, and such to make this something very special- and safe. I'm good at mechanics (have raced stock cars), but new to ATVs..
I'll try not to be a pain in the ass, so be patient with a newbie!
Kurt

Hi Kurt,
Welcome to the site. Try posting a wanted ad in the classifieds for a little better exposure since not everyone checks this thread. Also, if you can offer some paperwork to members that would allow their donations to be tax deductible I'm sure that would help out greatly and you may be able to entice people to help you out. Just a thought.
