Hello everyone. My name is Ben and I own a 1977-1980 Argo 6x6. It's in very good original condition compared to many I've seen. However recently the techumsah gave up. I'm going to be converting to a Harbor freight 13hp predator engine. My question is, has anyone done this particular swap? If so I'd love some tips or pictures. Thanks in advance
Hi Ben, welcome to the forum. You may want to start a new thread in the Argo forum about your engine swap. There are a few members on here that have used that motor but I don't recall any of them being in an Argo. Even so, their threads may be helpful to you. Search the site and you should find a few. Here are a couple to get you started:
Became very interested in Argos with the massive amount of fluffy snow this year. Snowmachines can't handle it. Beaver trapping came to a stand still. Shopping and learning.

Toys4Me and NotFast both have HF Predator engines installed and have had VERY GOOD experiences.
We had Carroll Stream Chinese knock-offs before the HF engines and they both had heat issues and failures within 5-6 hours of running time.
Hi to all,
I have been looking at these machines for many years and now seriously considering becoming an owner. I live in north florida (Oseola national forest) and have a few kids that want to go play in the mud. I know how crazy my kids are willing to be (they were built in my image after all) and i dont want to get 4 wheelers due to safety concerns. Considering were i live an amphibious type vehicle would be a bonus. Problem is, not many of these vehicles are in my neck of the woods. In fact, i've only seen one in person in this area and it was many years ago and didnt run. So my intentions for being on this site are to learn as much as possible about something ive seen very little of in person. If anyone happens to see any vehicles in my area for sale, please send me a link AND recomend if the price is good or too high.

Welcome to the site rcn11thacr, there are a couple members in Fla. who have Max IV's, one is in St. Cloud and think the other is just west of you, perhaps they'll invite you by to see what the have and give some input. craigslist often has machines listed, there has been an Argo Conquest for sale down there for a while.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.

Hi Paul, welcome to the forum. There are some wiring diagrams on the front page of the site in the manuals section that may help with your Max IV charging diagnosis. Have fun with your newly acquired ATVs.
