  • We just recently bought a used Hustler. After some carb work and fuel system clean out it is now running well. The kids (12 years old) are having a blast. It is better in the snow than I expected.
This model is powered by a 20hp 2stroke kohler motor. My latest challenge is one of the gear shift cables broke. No repair shops around the Ingersoll, ON area even have a suggestion on where I can get parts.
    Does anybody have any suggestions.

            • My name is Philippe. I've started looking for a 6x6 after stumbling across one for sale on Craigslist. So far I've looked at a couple and not found one. I'm looking for a project to get started with. I've worked on lots of different things and the next best thing to new is something I've worked on enough to trust the condition of. I'm in California in the SF Bay Area but it would be used mostly in the Sierras.

I've been lurking here for a week or two learning a lot.

If anyone has something good under a tarp, let me know.

              • Hi Philippe, welcome to the forums. Good luck in your hunt for a 6x6. While the California market doesn't seem to have as many 6x6's popping up for sale, the good news is that we have seen several good deals in your general area that are too far away from most members so they stay for sale for a long time. So you should be able to find a good deal if you are patient.

                • Hi to you all, I live in Northern Alberta, Been talking to Rec. Ind, in Buffalo N.Y. about a Max IV and will soon be putting in my order for 1. Can't wait, I do not know of any one that has one or any amphibious machines at all. I think they are the machine for this country though, lots of muskeg and beaver dams, I have a 800 can am outlander and its been great but end up all the time getting stuck or too much water, if its a wet summer you can't go hardly anywhere. I have been looking around this site for awhile now and its good to meet you all. Hope to talk with you soon. Trapper 1000

Trapper, The folks at Recreatives are great people and they'll be sure to take good care of you. Galen knows his stuff and will be sure to help you set your machine up correctly for what you plan on doing with it. A Max is a great machine, and the T-20 transmission in them has been pretty much unchanged since 1969. Tried and true! If you're going to run a machine in harsh terrain up there, you'd probably want to add a set of Adair tracks from Tim. I hear he's also great guy to deal with and a Max with those tracks on it will go pretty much anywhere. Good luck with it and let us know how it works out for you.

Oh and by the way, the 6 wheelers are much more capable than a 4 wheeler. You'll go places that you wouldn't believe are possible. It'll be a night and day difference. There are quite a few folks that got rid of their 4 wheeler and got a 6 wheeler and never looked back.

                    • Hi, I'm from northern virgina I just joined so I can research 6x6s Alittle not more I fell in love with them when I saw you guys down in Busco and I've wanted one since I've stumbled across one but it's a project If I get it I want to build it trail worthy at high speeds around 10-15mph to keep up with the group I ride with so my best bet is to build it with a springer kit I'm guessing? -blaster0476

                      • What kind of machine is it? If it's an Attex, Max, Hustler, or a Swamp Fox or a vintage machine with a T-20 go for it. I know 6X6World member Don is in Northern Virginia too. He's the man when it comes to AATVs! If it's a Terra Tiger, Trail Boss, Scrambler, or something like that, avoid it and wait for something better to come along. Let us know and we'll be happy to help you out. Oh, and post a pic if you can. Welcome to the site!

                        • It's a max II? It's beat up pretty bad looks like it hasn't ran in awhile. But seems like most of its there, are these competitive with trail riding as in keeping up with lifted atvs and side by sides? The only problems I can find are ground clearance which I'm use to and it being slow. But they are simple fixes for the most part right?

                          • If you're referring to this Max II, AVOID IT. There are much nicer Max IIs out there. This is an ABS body (not HDPE like they're made of today) and it would require lots and lots of money to get it going again. This guy has been trying to sell this thing (it should just be parted out actually) for the past year with no luck. I thought he had it for $700 something dollars before and then he dropped it to $600 something I believe. Now it's $800? That's way, way too much. Obviously it hasn't sold because he's asking way, way too much for a machine that should be used for parts.

                              • Hi,

With the exception of having ridden in one twice, I'm new to amphibious 6x6's and discovered this form while doing some research on them. Needless to say I'm convinced that they are the way to go... and once my boat and ATV sell will be getting one!

I live in Peace River, Alberta which has no end of flooded environments from muskeg to streams, lakes, and slews. I'm really looking forward to getting into (and out of) areas that are completely inaccessible to ATVs.
