  • I'm new to the site and was at Busco Beach in October and was hoping to find some footage of that. I had a great time and met some very cool folks and got to ride around in a kick ass Argo 8x8. First trip ever. Joy!

        • Hello- Just found this sight and decided to get involved. I am 65 years old but still a kid at heart. If it has a motor it interests me. I am a retired auto shop/small engine/ welding instructor and into old cars and tractors. I have had a 1968 catagator 8 wheel drive for about 35 years. I haven't started it in 24 years and the weather took its toll. My son recently bought a hunting camp and there is quite a bit of swamp to go through to get to our deer blinds. We really struggled to get to our blinds with our 4 wheelers and I won't even try to get my Prowler in there. I live in Upper Michigan where the winters are quite long so I decided to put the catagator in the garage and get it ready for next spring. Right now it has a 24 hp Kohler but plan to pick up a Briggs Vanguard. I would like to use the clutch set up that is on the catagator but I have to find a new clutch cylinder. The one I have is pretty rusted. I had thought about trying to use a VW engine but I might be openning a can of worms. I also have a 6 wheel chapparal that had a 300 cc jlo. The engine is blown and I have a 250 rotax twin that I might put on. Anyway, I think I should be able to get tons if info and maybe even offer some ideas on this site. Hope to talk with many of you in the future. Packrat.

              • I'll be picking up my 1970 Sierra Trail Boss today. The seller did some nice work to it... newer B&S 16hp V-twin, rebuilt trans, and some other items. Plus a second tub, frame, axles, etc. These sure are different from anything else I've driven! Hopefully I won't tear up the lawn to bad... LOL. Thanks in advance for any/all help! JT

                • Hello all.
Im obviously a newbie and I've always wanted an aatv
I recently purchased a used Argo Bigfoot off a guy who took very good care of it.
I'll be using it for a means to cross a small river that I need to access my hunting spot and for recreation use with my 2 children. Im located near Cincinnati ohio and have no knowledge of anyone near me with another aatv to play with.
                  Thanks,Jesse

                  • Hi All,, Dave here live in Texas. I have an old 1991 MAX II with the B&S 14 hp engine. Been having all kinds of problems, got the carb cleaned, engine started then the flexible exhaust pipe blew talk about loud. Anyway, it's getting to be a real hassle for this old man (70), so I'd like to find a replacement muffler or just the flexible pipe? Any suggestions? Thanks

                        • Hi Jessie,

I just picked up my first aatv a 1989 max ii and am in Cincinnati also. I just got it a few weeks ago and have some items to take care of before I can get it out to see what it can do. Currently plan on riding in northern kentucky on some property we have but would like to find some others locally to ride with.

                            • I'm from Mt.Vernon Ky. and just purchased an Argo 6x6 super swamp fox. I don't know anything about them but would like to do some upgrades. Its previous owner replaced the motor and it only has a 5HP engine. I have a 20 hp off of a zero tun lawn mower. Would that be a good idea? AND ANYMORE suggestions would be appreciated. Brandon

                              • Brandon,You either have an Argo or a Swamp Fox,No such thing as a Argo Swamp Fox.As long as the clutch fits and it is a Horizontal shaft motor,20 will be plenty big enough.Look at some of the engine swap threads on here for a general idea what you are going to have to do.
