        • Im up for suggestions too on possibly wheel swapping and motor upgrades
eventually this will be my daughters play toy for tooling around the desert here
and take out during monsoon season, and the lakes.
Dont necessarily want to hurt the value either of the beast either.
So Ill prob start with restoring it like original till I get more aquainted with it.
Will put fresh gas in it today and hope it starts

          • 6x6-007,

If you are looking for suggestions, look through the forum categories and start a new thread where your question best fits;ie:wheels and tires section for info on tires, other aatv section for general questions on a scrambler, engine section for engine specific info. You can place multiple threads depending on your needs, but if you are going to do a project on it I would suggest posting a thread in the other aatv section and labeling it "scrambler resto," "scrambler info needed," or "why is my scrambler scrambled." I think you get the idea.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

                        • Hello Folks,
My name is Clint Chapman, and I'm writing from Okeechobee Florida. I'm the proud owner of a 96 Max iv, and it sure is fun
working on these thing, isn't it? The fun started soon after it was professionally delivered to me by a guy with it crammed in the
back of his pickup along with 5 tires needed to use the tracks, (note: not 6) the tracks themselves, hubs and plasticky doors and
such all tied together with a half mile of string, broken ratchet straps and seatbelts. After a speedy unload of this cargo, supervised
by the professional delivery guy who kept insisting he was losing money by making this delivery, we fashioned a ramp out of a section
of the neighbors privacy fence and I promply ran into my house. It didn't work just like a bobcat. Who Knew? Everything seemed to
smooth for a little while after that, then it started smoking. Being the conscientous new owner of a six-wheeler, something I've
wanted since my pre-teen years and I have 41 rings now, I promptly changed the plugs and filters, oil and just did a little once over
on the machine before I drove it, once unloaded. Seemed to be running a little rough. I figured maybe it just "needed to be ran"
and down the street I go, then back up I come. Still running a little rough. seems like maybe its flooding. It stalls while Idling and
takes a little while to get running again. Definately flooding. Needs to be run some more. Down the street I go, but this time,
on the way back it starts billowing a cloud of white smoke remniscent of a modern tank laying down a smoke screen on the battlefield.
Long story short, the float was sticking on the carb and filling the crankcase up with gas to the point it started getting in the
piston Im pretty sure. Never knew that could happen. As I was nearly back in my driveway I continued on just long enough
to realize the left side would no longer brake in order to make a left hand turn. Odd. At this point I would like to say that for
as long as this t-20 transmission has been around, there is a serious lack of resources concerning them. Thank God for
Rich's Relics and Route 6x6 and a very few others. So now I sit here plotting my next move with my t-20 sitting in pieces
on my dining room table, motor in the shed and the rest of it out in the driveway. After 3 days of cleaning the grease, bolts,
tools and garbage from the bottom of my machine I can now find stuff I drop. Oh yes, the t-20... seems it only had about
7 drops of atf in it so Im hoping that was the problem with it since everything looks good in it. I miked the bands and they
were all .096-.097" so I hope I can run it a little before a costly band replacement.
I really wanted to address some questions I had about bearing cages tonight, but I reckon that'll have to wait.. I really detest
                          typing. Nice to meet ya.

                            • Not sure what I am doing, but will try to make some sense. Have a hustler 950 I think, kohler k341 motor, having trouble getting spark. On side panel where the key is there is also the choke and another pull out push in switch. Is this a kill switch and what position should it be in when trying to start it. This machine has been sitting in the back of my shed for years and have decided to get it going. It will wind over but don't seem to be getting spark.

                              • Hi, Jane Welcome to the site! I have the same model Hustler as you, and I believe that the switch you're refering to is actully the headlight switch. I would start by checking the points. With the key in the "on" position, gently pry the points apart with a flathead screwdriver and see if you see a spark. If not, first check the wire between the keyswitch and coil, and then make sure that the engine is grounded to the frame well. If none of these get you a spark, you probably need a new coil.
