      Hello,
I have a 77 Super Chief 500. It had a 2 stroke Japonese motor in it. It was way too much for me. I took it out and am putting in a 18 HP Briggs Vangaurd. The 2 stroke was way to powerful in that type of vehicle for me. I almost flipped it on the street at 45. The two strokes make great power at upper end, but I need it at lower end for climbing. I don't race mine. The Briggs have great low end torque. The only thing I had to get was the clutch for the 1" shaft. The wiring is easy. The motor fits just fine on the original mounting plate. The only thing is that I had to take off the exhaust and air cleaner for the engine to fit. I'm making my own exhaust and intake. Of course I am a metal fabricator/welder and have my own equipment. I also do fiberglas and plastic fabrication so this all helps.
As far as power, I'm not finished yet, but I think it'll be just fine. I did however sell a 10HP Honda motor to a guy that was going to put it in his ARGO 6x6. It must have worked just fine because I never heard back from him and it has been about 15 years.
      Good luck.
