Can someone please post good pictures of the upgraded chain tensioner2010-- on. I assume there are 2 types one that pulls upwards and another that pushes downwards .Looking to install on my SSfox . Up to my 3rd change out of the 4 max2 tensioners I have installed agh agh

If you continue to have problems with the ratchet-style adjusters, have you thought about changing over to the Unistrut style mechanism? I installed this on my SSF, and have had no issues with them so far. I don't know if you could weld them on without removing the frame, but it might be worth a shot. All the materials are common (2"x 3/16" thick angle iron, UHMW sliders riveted to the angle, and about a foot of Unistrut track should do the trick...)

The situation is that , I manufactured the chassis to suit the max11 adjusters and/or the roller type out of uni strut eg Richard relics .I am aware there is a conversion to unistrut using the original tensioner frame also .As it turns out I donot have good access to the tensioner lock bolt .
There are 2 failings with the unistrut type when u have less than ideal access
1/ the bolt u tighten can and will leave depressions in the back of the unistrut .What this does is cause issues for future adjustment . adjuster does not adjust smoothly
2/U cannot firmly adjust /shift the roller up or down resulting in less tension than desired
Therefore having to adjust more often.
NB Although the unistrut is the most successfull tensioner so far it still has flaws
Eg the unistrut in the size that 6x6 use is the light duty channel and the origin of its design is that it is not suppose to be retightened many many times such as a chain tensioner etc
The 2 designs I am interested in are based on a automotive design
1/ muddox can some one please provide picture [similar to auto design ]
2/ direct copy of an auto design eg long adjuster bolt at least 4 inch fully threaded with a specialist pulley bolt with a lock nut .[the pulley can be substituted with roller etc ]
NB both of the adjusters allow fine tune adjustment eg 1/4 chain slack and at least the second one locks positively [cannot tell with Muddox as no picture ]

How does it mount ?
What does lock the lifting pad into position or does it just hang on the threads of the adjuster rod [seem to wear out if this were the case tho] ??

If you want everyone to see the adjuster so that they may get ideas on how to update a vintage machine I can post the photos here. Your choice.
