I have just purchased a RIM that needs an engine and It already has been modified to accept a briggs 18 horse but i want to know if i can use a 20HP v twin honda with a 1" shaft instead?

As long as the shaft is 1" can't i keep the same clutch?
The clutch should work fine, but the bolt pattern to mount the engine is bound to be different.

Hi Tatim; your honda will work ok ,some things to adapt ,one word of caution is that hondas dont seem to like cold starts and cold running due to all the plastic timing gears, ive removed the hondas from my units and went with briggs, even my grain augers and water pumps are now on briggs due to hard starts and busted cam gears that honda seems to have in the winter
He who has not cruised the back country in a 6x6 , has not lived life to it's fullest
A Mans level of mechanical education directly corresponds to the level pain suffered while getting it
I'm looking for an engine for my RIM that previously had an 18 horse briggs?
What are the important shaft dimensions including overal length that i need?
