  • Site vBulletin Update

6x6world operates on vBulletin forum software. The current version is 4.1.1 which was initially released about ten years ago. As time progressed, features on the site became incompatible and unsupported. We've attempted to work around these issues, but it has reached a point where it's no longer a viable solution to continue using the old software. Recent gallery problems are an example of this.

The site will be updated to vBulletin 5.0 Connect. Forums are delicate and caution must be taken to ensure it transfers over without issue. This process will be completed in the next week. You may visit the site and receive an error during the transfer. When it's completed, we hope the site to be more user friendly than ever before.

In the meantime, we'd like to take this opportunity to open a discussion for members. Are there any changes to the site you would like to see? Do you have any issues when using certain features of the website such as posting threads, uploading to the gallery, etc? Do you want to change the site color, any new forum sections, or tabs on the top bar? Would you like a comprehensive monthly blog for members to submit their favorite threads, pictures, upcoming events etc as discussed in the past month?

Thank you in advance for all suggestions. They will all be taken into consideration.

my only request would be to make the top menu bar scroll with a post so that it is always at the top even when you are at the 12th message on a page. may not be possible, but it has always been on my wish list

The vBulletin update is about to begin. 6x6world will most likely be unavailable until it is finished.

Hello everyone. We apologize for the extremely long site shutdown. 6x6world is operating on an old php version. To update vbulletin, we also have to change to the latest php. Unfortunately the old version of vbulletin cannot work on the new php, and causes the site to crash until all updates are complete.

It should have been a 1-2 day update. However, we were experiencing technical difficulties on the hosting side. We've been in contact with hosting on a daily basis in attempt to resolve the issue. The site was kept on the new php in hopes it would only take another day to fix. After a couple weeks of this, we decided to change back to the old php until we are 100% certain we can perform the update. It could take a couple days or a couple weeks to resolve, we are unsure but will notify you beforehand.

The 404 error message was displaying an old email. We are going to change this so you have direct contact with us during any site shutdowns.

The hosting issues have been fixed and the site is ready for the vbulletin update. We are planning to begin in a few hours so the site will crash again. It should be a quick process. If anything changes, we'll let you know.

                Thanks John!

Unfortunately we ran into a major road block. 6x6world is using a third party photo gallery, which has become unsupported and will not work on newer versions of vbulletin forum software. If we update the site, the gallery will no longer exist, nor would photos appear in forum threads.

We are looking into solutions. For the time being, the site will remain as-is.
