So my dad wants me to ask what to set the points to? He's not having much luck getting spark. Any suggestions? Would this be the same as a JLO 440?

I may have found the answer myself (thanks internet).

sent me to this Pdf file

and the answer is :
.014 - .018 - this is actually for the JLO but, hopefully the same for both engines - since they are basically the same.
Also, Spark plug gap
= .016 - .020
You're right, they're basically the same thing. Setting the points is no big deal, but the timing is a little more tricky, especially if it's got the angle-plug heads. If you set the points to spec, you're usually close enough to get it running pretty well. I can come up with part numbers for ignition parts if you find you need them.
