How do you know what year or serial number if there is no tag? Any tell tale signs from the machine itself (type of engine, frame updates, smooth axle versus splined axle etc.

Just got home with a 2003 Max II, camo (swirl), roll bar, winch, 22' rawhide III's, bilge pump, off road lights, splined axels, and the 23hp motor. Soooooo excited!!!! Serial #19002.

P.S. Thanks for the help and advise while making the decision!

there is a Serial number on the T-20 that if you call RI with it they might be able to give you some information on it.

I have been told that the newer Max II's have different inside diameter on the inner bearing. Also they should have the snap rings to hold your sprokets into place instead of the set screws. Another up grade is the metal base throttle handle instead of the older all plastic throttle handle.

IMG_0112.jpgIMG_0111.jpgI wanted to hijack this thread and add some info on old maxII tubs. I came across a maxII with the serial # in the 500's, I'm guessing that is early 70's. It still had the #40 chain on the axles. The lower tub has a very different looking backside. This is the second tub like this I've seen. I wonder if the cut outs were for a jet drive???

Jim, those were provisions for dual propellers. I think jpswift1 posted some photos. I'll see if I can find them.

Edit: Here is a thread from Jeff http://www.6x6world.com/forums/max-a...ropellers.html but I thought there were photos somewhere that actually showed the propellers.

I just checked on my Max IV with RI ---when I purchased was told it is a 95 but RI informed me that it is a 93 with a serial number of 10161. Two years doesn't make a difference to me---I love it!
