I seriously doubt removing that will help you at all, the chances of the supply inlet being clogged are very slim. You most likely have dirt blocking a jet or maybe something between the needle and seat, the carb will need to come apart for a proper cleaning. Take lots of pics from various anlges so you don't have to remember how it goes back. You can do a quick clean without removing the carb from the motor using some carb cleaner and compressed air, but you will need to split the carb for sure. Most of the dirt that causes greive will be found in the bottom of the fuel bowl.
