Sloppy-Joe, welcome, officially, to the site even though you have been a member for years. Nice user name by the way. For your engine question, start a new thread in the engine forum. Not everyone checks this thread so you would get some better replies there.

Does anyone know what would cause a 18hp Briggs to bend one rod and throw another?

Thanks for keeping this site up and running you guys are awesome.
Welcome Sloppy Joe. are you talking push rod, or connecting rod? sometimes connecting rods just let go... sad but true. usually when a connecting rod breaks, the part that stays attached to the crank slings around in the case and smashes into everything else... that might explain the other being bent. if it's pushrods, then i suspect a valve lash issue.

Well I guess I should have mentioned that I am not a mechanic by any means. It may be a conecting rod if that is the one connected under the rocker arm and spring.

ok, that would be a pushrod. i suspect that the valve lash got too loose and pushrods tried to fall out of the dimple they rest in in the rocker arm. then on the next cycle they bent/ broke because they were out of their proper position. the good news is that is shouldn't be near as hard (expensive) to fix as a connecting rod

    Hi everyone,

Just purchased a 2010 Argo Frontier 580 and finally sold the 4wheeeler today! At least I can recoup a little of the cost lol. New to the sport but in the few times I have been able to get out, the 6wheeler is incredible. Great forum here, love the advice. Can't wait for the lakes to lock up and put the tracks on.....should never get stuck and it's going to be soooo easy to pull out the gear.

    Chris

Hi everybody. My name's Paul and I just got a new KID 8x8 and just wait till you see some pics. It is super sharp. I live in SE Indiana on a few acres with lots of grades you can barely walk up and a huge creek. Should be fun...too bad it's so frickin cold. It going to snow a bunch tonight, good thing the Kid has a plow. See I told the wife it's a tool not a toy. Other toys I mean tools are a Cushman Titan 48V, Kubota L3130 TLB, Electraglide, Jeep, Yamaha golf cart, Country Clipper ZTR hope I didn't leave any body out. Anyhow I've been reading alot of the posts for awhile and there sure are a lot of knowledgeable folks on here sharing their time and brains ab!nd stories--it's great. So now that I've got an AATV I'm in the club!
