Oh goody, then we can be the two muscateers......
Then the Toyman produces one and now there are "Three Muscateers"
Mine will more than likely begin a transmission restoration today. I'm going to test drive it one more time following my attempt to adjust it properly. Previous owner had been into it and altered the settings.

We'll see.....
the 3 Muscateers or something like that
I'd be interesting to know how many of these rare machines are still in exsistance. Surely there are more owners than the three of us.

i saw about 10 of these in 7 yrs
How many of the ten were operational? I'm currently into a full blown rebuild of the transmission. I don't know of any repair shop that I could have hired to do this type of work. Finding a suitable material for the wet clutches has been a hic-cup but with the help of falboa I hope to get past this. He and I both had a delamination of the clutch material from the metal disks so this may be something common with the Muscateer. I plan to use a hot bond method of the clutch material to the disks. Have you noticed a fair amount of heat generated from the "Black Box" when turning excessively? I'm considering the addition of a oil cooler or welding cooling fins to the exterior.

Here is a question for you Muskateer owners. It appears they made two styles of transmissions for them. The black box version and a finned cast aluminum type trans that used hydraulics to actuate the steering clutches.
Member Riotwarrior has an aluminum one. Do any of you know who made that aluminum style trans for Muskateer?
Also, which one came first? The black box or the the hydraulic one?
Perhaps Riotwarrier can chime in if he is listening and can tell us if there is any manufacturers name or any markings on the case somewhere.
