What gear should I run with tracks, high or low

  • #2
I have a 2008 Avenger and I use both gears as appropriate. Low for steep hills, heavy loads and deep snow on trails. High on flat straightaways like frozen lakes, especially if they are slushy.

I'm with Bob on the gears. I run an 07 Avenger and am usually in high gear, unless I'm on a steep hill, heavy loads, deep snow, or thick mud. Lately I've found that I don't need the tracks as much as I had in the past. It's a bit easier on the machine, but I still have them in camp, in case I need em.

Like these guys wrote, will depend on load and terrain, rubber tracks may require low more than super tracks.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
        Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

I have the low geared Trans in my machines, so rarely use low gear.
I would suggest running in High until you cant, then shift it down when needed.
