there are 2 or 3 of those russian made atv's i've seen videos of . rear wheel drive only with the large tires works well. it's a split differential type trans with a brake on each rear wheel for steering. the russian motor is a '' ifan '' brand , pretty cool and simple . johnboy va.
would probably sell well here....the key would be how much it would cost to manufacture and selling price . it's a tracked machine all the time , but no hassles with chains and tensioners , etc. j.b.
I particularly like the rear engine model so that the noise and vibration is as far from the driver as possible. Latest cost from the videos is about $5K USD, another 2-3K for shipping, but I don't think the Lifan engine is EPA approved so you might have to find another engine here in the US that the EPA doesn't have a problem with. Also, the gearbox I believe is one of those that you have to stop to shift, so you have to guess what ratio is best for the terrain you are facing when you start out, if you need more or less speed you have to come to a stop to shift into another gear, something that we aren't used to and sounds like a pain in the butt. Other than that, they would probably do well here, I really like that they are a all steel body, no plastic to crack or melt. Put in a manual locking diff and you probably could go just about anywhere and not get stuck.
