MaxII man that will one day own a Hustler with a question.

Hi there, I LOVE the curves on the Hustlers (reminds me of the 74 Charger I had as a teen) and they seem like they come with bigger motors and tires then my MaxII. I have two questions. 1 What is the big boy that I should keep an eye out for (980?). 2. what was the last year they made those and/or any Hustlers? Can parts still be found easily? (guess that would be 3 questions...) Thanks all! Steve, future Hustler.

    Steve,

The Hustler 980 BIGFOOT was the one with the 26x12x12 tires from the factory. There were two versions of the 980, the standard tall tub and the very tall tub, both had 26's as I said. I absolutely love my 980. It's one of my favorite machines. The very tall tub 980 was so tall you could run 26's with tracks.

The Hustler 945HK and 950 models came with 4 strokes, and beefier frames than some of the earlier Hustler models such as the 900 or fiberglass bodied 880 models (smaller axles in the 880 models as well). There are TONS of Hustlers around (the 980's are not nearly as common though). Parts are quite easy to come by. Hustlers were made up until the mid 1980's. I'm thinking 1987, but I can't say for sure. Even the 950 and 945HK Hustlers can be fit with 25x12x9 tires without any modifications, even though they came with 21" Goodyear Rawhides. I think a Hustler on 25's looks great. There are some VERY good deals that pop up every so often, so keep an eye out. A Hustler would be an EXCELLENT machine to add to your AATV collection.
