I am interested in seeing what the general consensus was with you folk in regards to the Chaparral engine that was offered in the later model Attexs.

My experience so far is they are very fussy. For a while there, after about 30 minutes of driving, the engine would develop a miss and then in a short period just die. I would then have to let it cool and it would re-start and I would go for my life to get it home!

Maybe I need to rebuild the engine, but it hasn't done many hours I don't think.

    Hi Steve,

I know you've been in contact with Don. HydroMike also has experience with these engines. They're who I would speak to if I had a question...and I will have some soon.

I just picked up my 1st SuperChief in September. I'm in the process of getting it online for our summer (ours is on the way). Don is advising me on how to convert the original ignition to electronic ignition. I have not fired the G50B up yet but I have great compression and sparks on both plugs.

I hope to have her up and running by the end of April. I'll keep you posted. I'll share anything I learn.
