If your machine came with 8" wheels then it is more likely that it is actually a 950 not a 980. 980s came with 12" wheels and 26" Goodyear Terra Tires factory where as the 945/950 machines came with 8" wheels and tires closer to the 21" size. The smaller machines can generally run up to 25" tires. If you do in fact have a 980 then wait until December and keep your fingers crossed that Interco brings back the 26x13x12 Vampire Asx

Your probably correct on it being a 950 and not a 980.would I be better off going with 12 inch rims over 9s?I'm fairly new to the 6x6 machines and I don't know what will be best for it.the 21 inch tires just don't have enough clearance as it tends to get hung on small logs or trees down in the woods.:-)

I would go with a 9" argo wheel and run the super swamper vampires in a size 25x13x9. Thats about the biggest that will fit under that machine. A 9" wheel should ride better than a 12"

Well seems that you noticed the "Hustler-Hump" (hump under the center of the tub that makes clearance for the center sprockets). All Hustlers that I have seen has this, and is surely one thing that we as (Hustler Owners) wish wasn't there.

As for the tire and rim combo,,,,, Like Thomas said, the 9'' argo wheel on some 25'' tires will work. I would, if you could get some Vampires, but if you cant wait, Maxxis Mudbugs work great. I have a set on my 980, 26x12x12, and they rock. 6 new tires for $640 to my front door,, I feel is a pretty good deal, but there are some way better deals if you have the patience and time to look and bargain (im super impatient). There are other choices but it all comes down to the use of your machine. If your going to be swimming a lot, any tire with a chevron pattern like the Rawhides will work. Cbass has some Dirt Devils, 25x12x9, that swim and mud extremely well on his Max II, I would shoot him a PM because he got even a better deal on his tires. HydroMike runs ITP's 589's on his Super Swamp Fox and 980 (an extremely agrressive mud tire with big hard lugs), and his machines are stellar performers!! Again, its all about what you want your machine to do, and how you employ it.

I hope I was able to help!!

There are more options out there. Contact Matt at Mudd Ox, he has 9" rims Mudd Ox 6 & 8 Wheeler Land & Water Machines | . Also, contact Tim at Adair Argo, he has 9" rims too Home .

There are sites where you can get 25" tires cheap too. Try the 25x13x9 Mud Bug or 25x13x9 GBC Gators as well. Do some shopping around and search here on 6X6World using the search box in the top right corner of the site and you'll be able to find something at a good price.
