what to do about the plastic skid plate on my scrambler

what to do about the plastic skid plate on my scrambler
the plastic skid plate on the bottom of my scrambler has seen better days. so can i just take it off. or is there some thing else that i can do. also if i get rid of the skid plate what is the best way to fill all the rivit holes that held it on. bruce dye
