Removing Oxidation From Polyethelene Body
I picked up a Hustler 980 BIGFOOT and I noticed that I had a little problem on my hands. The upper body was faded so bad on the hood that it was white (I believe it was because someone was sloppy when they poured gas in it because it was all around the fuel tank hole........let this be a lesson to you, be cautious when fueling up your 6x6). I was going to just try and locate a different upper body. I got a tip from Don on the forum here that said he got the oxidation out of a polyethelene body Attex Super Chief by using a heat gun. I borrowed my grandfather's heat gun, set it on "LOW" and got to work. I held the gun about 6 inches away from the spot on the body that was oxidized and ran the gun back and forth very slowly. Then after 5 minutes the heat gun was very warm and the plastic started to look like it was "sweating" and getting glossy. I then started moving the gun in rows across the spot that was oxidized, moving it as soon as the spot started to change back to the original color. It took about half an hour and I worked on and off to let the plastic cool down. After I was all done I let it cool for a little while and wiped it down with some furniture polish like Pledge and some paper towels, and thats it. Its like new again. You cannot tell where to oxidation was at all anymore. The after picture had so much shine in it that it reflected the flash on the camera, thus the white spot. Try it out, it works great. Thanks Don. Happy 6x6ing!

by MikeFor anyone new to six wheelers, this is a short video showing you how to adjust the chains in a Max II. There are eight chains that need to be adjusted. The chains between the front and middle axles and the chains between the rear and middle axles are tightened using the ratcheting chain adjusters. The ones in the front are adjusted by pushing the adjusters down. The ones in the rear are adjusted by pulling the adjusters up. The remaining four chains are adjusted by moving the jackshafts. ...

by Planter BobDo you have a grooved axle and a shallow wallet? Well, here's the ticket for solving the problem without burning up the Visa card.
Repairing a grooved axle on the cheap: 1. Remove the axle. 2. Clamp it firmly in a smooth-jawed vice, with the groove about 6" from the jaws of the vice. 3. Using a wire brush in a 4" grinder, clean all the area in and around the groove, making it free of rust and gunk. Use a flat file gently on any high spots. 4. Use paper towels and wipe down the...-

by Rock DoctorWell, I finally got this little project started
. I think everything is going to work out good, but there is still some testing to do. I ran into a couple little issues, but nothing that can't be dealt with. Sorry about the length of the vids, it was hard to keep the time down on a project like this. I have only uploaded the first part so far, but PT-2 will be edited into this post tomorrow if possible. I have to say here that I'm NOT SURE if this will work with ALL Conquests. I have noted that some ...

by racerone3i've needed to redo the seats in my wild wolf for as long as i've had it. the seat back was the original and shot, and the bottom was something i had quickly thrown together. last week after months of my son begging me to take him for a ride in my old bronco, i finally got the back seat down from the rafters of my shop and bolted it in. later that night it dawned on me that it would make a pretty good seat for the Wolf. i checked with the place i'd gotten my seat covers form when i built the bronco...

by MikeGeneral - Purchasing your first six wheeler can be exciting and it is something that many of us remember well; Seeing it for the first time, the test drive, towing it home, taking it for a spin around the yard and realizing how quickly you can tear up the grass. But it can also be an intimidating process especially if you are not purchasing new. For some, a new six wheeler is simply out of the question. Whether it is financial concerns or simply that the six wheeler you are looking for is no...
